How Much Does It Cost to Fix a Hacked Website?

“How much to fix a hacked site” doesn’t have one answer, because “hacked” covers a lot of ground — from a single injected spam link to a fully compromised server. The honest answer is: it depends on severity, and anyone who quotes you a number before looking shouldn’t be trusted with it.

Realistic price bands, by severity

  • Minor injection (spam links, a defaced page, a single compromised plugin): usually a same-day fix, often in the $150–$400 range.
  • Malware or redirect scripts spread across multiple files: typically a half-day to full-day job, often $400–$1,000 depending on how deep it's spread.
  • Full compromise — admin access lost, database affected, or the host has suspended the site: this usually means a rebuild from a clean backup plus hardening, and realistically starts above $1,000.
  • Ongoing hardening and monitoring after the fix: often worth a small monthly retainer rather than a one-time fee, since the goal is making sure it doesn’t happen again.

Before you pay anyone, do these three things

  • Take the site offline or put it in maintenance mode if you can — a compromised site actively hurts your search rankings and can get flagged by browsers the longer it stays live.
  • Check whether you have a clean backup from before the compromise. This single fact changes the cost more than anything else.
  • Change your hosting and admin passwords from a different device, in case the compromise included credential theft.

This is exactly the kind of problem worth getting a second set of eyes on fast — tell me what you’re seeing and I’ll tell you honestly which price band you’re in before I touch anything.
